When asked how it compared with previous sequels, Miller suggested that some aspects of it would hearken back to Mad Max 2.

"In that way it's much more like Mad Max 2," Miller said. "It's virtually all daylight."

The directorwent on to capsule the premise of the third in the Mad Max series and what it meant.

"In my mind it's a revisit about 45 years from next Wednesday, where all the bad things in the news happen at once and we end up in an apocalypse," he said.

Miller also recently spoke to IndieWire recently about avoiding reliance on a script and dialogue for this one: "To not have to rely on dialogue...I knew right off the bat that this was going to be like a huge ballet."

The shoot took 116 days and featured very little dialogue and few digital effects.

Mad Max: Fury Road will hit theaters on May 15 2015.
