Alana Bloom will return to Hannibal in season 3, but her ill-fated relationship with Dr. Lecter may relegate her to the world of flashbacks.

Lee Pace & Bryan Fuller Talk Possible 'Hannibal' Guest Role

Cavorting with Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) rarely ends well for anyone, but Alana's (Caroline Dhavernas) may pay the ultimate price. As poor as Alana's decision to bed Hannibal looks to viewers, Dhavernas promise the character will not die due to stupidity.

Instead, Alana was attempting to lead a more mature life, and who better to share it with than someone who she had known since before the series even began?

"It think she knew Hannibal way before she knew anyone else on the show and she really trusts him. He was a mentor to her, and a friend," Dhavernas told TV Line, defending Alana's major oversight regarding Hanni's diet. "That's why he's so powerful in the show, too. You can be right next to him and not see [he is bad]."

As far as series creator Bryan Fuller is concerned, Alana's mistake is one anyone could easily make thanks to Dr. Lecter's charm and Mikkelsen's good looks.

"If you met Mads and you didn't know that he ate anybody, wouldn't you want to shag him rotten?" Fuller questioned TV Line.

Find out if Alana and Hannibal's relationship will lead Bloom to her grave when Hannibal returns to NBC in 2015.
