Schilling revealed to TVGuide.com this week that Alex's reaction to Piper's phone call at the end of Season 2 will be "a big part of Season 3." Piper got her friend Polly (Maria Dizzia) to rat out Alex to the latter's probation officer, ensuring that she comes back to prison.

"I think that they have such a strong connection. I care about seeing them both happy," Schilling said.

Discussing why Piper made the phone call, Schilling said that the character was testing out her newfound sense of power.

"I think that Piper's experiencing power in a way that she hasn't quite before. She's testing out who she is and what she wants and getting what she wants and seeing what it feels like to get what she wants," Schilling explained. "Her behavior and the way she's interacting with the world is shifting."

As for Piper's fractured relationship with Larry (Jason Biggs) and Polly, Schilling did not say much but speculated that it would be interesting to see where that storyline would lead.

"I don't know where they're going to take that in Season 3. It would be such an interesting arc to see how [Polly and Piper] can come back together again after that sort of betrayal," she said.

Orange is the New Black Season 3 is expected to being streaming in Summer 2015 on Netflix. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for streaming on the site.
