A tragic story occurred on Monday when word got out that movie and television star Robin Williams was found dead at 63.

Rumor currently has it that the Oscar winning actor may have killed himself, but according to Entertainment Weekly, that has yet to be confirmed. But a suicide could be a possibility considering that a statement was released that said Williams was having depression.

"Robin Williams passed away this morning," the statement reads. "He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."

'The Crazy Ones' Chatter

According to a press release from Marin County Coroner's office, it's suspected that Williams may have died from "suicide due to asphyxia." There was also apparently a 9-1-1 call that came just in before noon.

Fox also released a statement on the tragic and sudden situation that will have friends, family members, co-workers and fans expressing their heartbreak and shock over the incident.

"There really are no words to describe the loss of Robin Williams," the Fox statement says. "He was immensely talented, a cherished member of our community, and part of the Fox family. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans. He will be deeply missed."

Celebrities have already taken to Twitter to express their grief.

"Stunned. Devastated. I reasure my time with him. Robin was and always will be an original and brilliant kind soul," singer Josh Groban wrote.

"Terrible news about Robin Williams. Thoughts and prayers for his loved ones and friends," Shannen Doherty wrote.

Williams won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting. His other memorable films include Dead Poets Society, Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire. He was also in the recent CBS series The Crazy Ones.
