The werewolves may not have had the upper hand in Season 1 of The CW's The Originals, but they're running the town now during Season 2, and not necessarily for the better.

It's 'No Good To Be A Vampire' These Days On 'The Originals'

It would be one thing of Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) family was in control, but it will be Francesca (Peta Sergeant) who's calling the shota when the series returns this fall. Now in posession of the moonlight rings, she's gaining power fast in New Orleans and poses a real threat for Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

Introduced halfway through Season 1, Francesca posed as a representative for the humans of New Orleans only to reveal in the last few episodes that she is actually part of a secret werewolves line set on taking over the city.

'The Originals' Gets A 'Respected And Feared' New Werewolf For Season 2

"She has a small army and has made an alliance with the witches," explained producer Michael Narducci in a recent Buddy TV interview (featured below).

"It's a reversal," he continued, "Now we have a gangster in charge. She's bloodthirsty and dangerous."

So what is Klaus to do? Is Hayley, still mourning separation from her child and her new hybrid status, ready to handle a new threat? According to Nardiccu, "they have no shortage of enemies that they need to deal with" during the program's new season, which means they will have so start acting soon.

While Klaus and Marcel (Michael Charles Davis) reconciled during last season's finale, they might have to begin trusting one another again much more quickly than they would have liked. Marcel has a unique perspective on the werewolf situation in New Orleans, having spent years building "his city" after Klaus and his family originally fled.

"Marcel took out those werewolves back in the 1920s…" explained Narducci, referring to Francesca's family, "So an interesting asset [for Klaus], an interesting ally to have is Marcel."

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
