Johnny Depp has been struggling recently with the box office woes of The Lone Ranger and poor reviews of The Rum Diary, but it seems like the actor will be going for a more comedic look with his new movie, Mortdecai.

Disney Sets July 2015 Release Date For 'Pirates of the Carribbean 5'

Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. The film also features stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum and Paul Bettany.

The trailer plays like a Pink Panther movie with Depp seemingly in the role of Clouseau with his outrageous moustache and British accent. It also helps that he has a capable comedic cast around him, specifically Goldblum and McGregor, who have shown that they can produce multiple funny moments in other roles.

How Amber Heard Supported Johnny Depp During Surprise Aerosmith Performance

It will be a test for Depp, who has not been the blockbuster hit he used to be, but having the release date early in the year and with what seems like less pressure to be a sure-fire hit, Mortdecai could be exactly what the actor needs to get back in the game and display that he still has the gift to make audiences come and see him.

Mortdecai is directed by David Koepp from a script by Eric Aronson and is based on the novel entitled Don't Point That Thing At Me by Kyril Bonfiglioli.

It opens in theaters on February 6, 2015.
