The fans of Longmire have decided to stand up for their favorite series, petitioning A&E to renew the series for a fourth season.

"We the fans of Longmire on AETV, cannot imagine that the season 3 finale will be the last!" declared fans in their opening statement on ipetitions.

"Longmire is the highest rated scripted drama on your network, and it is regularly amount the top 25 cable shows each week," they continued. "Your fans have made the commitment to Longmire! Isn't it time you did too? RENEW LONGMIRE FOR SEASON 4!"

A&E Continues To Promote 'Longmire' As Series Awaits Renewal

The petition includes an impassioned discussion board and signatures from around the country. The goal of the petition is to reach 10,000 signatures. Currently, it stands at 1,424.

While reaching the designated goal still does not guarantee the series will be renewed, it would send a powerful message to the network. The drama has boasted a loyal fan base from day one and the petition is only further proof of the length fans are willing to go to see it return.

Showrunners suggested their own confidence in a renewal when they ended the third season with a major cliffhanger. Last year the program was not officially renewed until November, and so there is still time for the drama to be picked up for another season, but until then the show's fate remains uncertain.

If Longmire is renewed on A&E for a fourth season, it will likely return to television sometime in June 2015.
