The Mentalist will bring viewers car chases and shootouts in "The Greybar Hotel."

The CBS drama spent Friday night out on the roads, crafting a complicated chase scene for the season's second episode.

"Got some exciting scenes coming your way," tweeted Karl Sonnenberg, a Police/Medical Technical Advisor for The Mentalist.

Sonnenberg also posted a photo of the series' stunt coordinator, Kevin Derr, as he plotted out the evening's scene using matchbox cars.

Writer Jordan Harper ("Violets," "The Great Red Dragon") also got in on the action, uploading a photo of a bullet-ridden car. The vehicle was parked outside a red-carpeted entrance that may belong to the hotel referenced in the title.

"Prepping for car stunts and gunplay listening to the slow part of 'Rocket Queen,'" Harper wrote. "Ask me how to make it in Hollywood."

The Mentalist will start its 13-episode seventh season with "Nothing But Blue Skies" before airing "The Greybar Hotel," "Orange Blossom Ice Cream," and "Pink Rocks."
