While Dave Bautista went on to have a memorable performance as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, the role was not originally his, and actually was set for another actor who starred in a popular HBO fantasy series. But how different could the two actors be in vision?

'Guardians' Director Hints At Future Spin-Off Films

Andy Parks revealed on Twitter on Wednesday some early concept art he had for Drax the Destroyer, who was originally going to be played by Game of Thrones and Conan star Jason Momoa. Momoa is set to finally play a superhero when he takes on the role of Aquaman for Justice League.

The early art is somewhat different from Bautista's Drax as the costume is more in line with something Momoa would have worn on Game of Thrones rather than a superhero movie. The concept is different from the comic book iterations and the later movie version so it would have been a whole different feel if he had went on to play the role.

Momoa passed on the role because he wanted to focus on his first feature film that he directed, Road to Paloma. But he is returning to the superhero genre with the role of Aquaman, who is getting his own standalone movie as well as an appearance in both Batman v Superman and Justice League.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn from a script by Gunn and Nicole Perlman. The film also starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket.
