The first preview for season 6 of The Good Wife was revealed on September 3 and it focusses on Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) resistance to fight for State's Atorney and Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) merging with Florrick/Agos.

Governor Florrick's Flirtatious Intern To Return In Season 6

The clip picks up from the points the finale of season 5 left off at. The highlight of the finale for season 5 was Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) proposing Alicia become a candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The other major turning point was Diane's decision to leave Lochart/Gardner and join Florrick/Agos. In the promo, Diane is seen telling Alicia that if she joined forces with Florrick/Agos, the firm could become the biggest firm in the country. She adds that she would be bringing 38 million to the firm if she were to come on board.

An "Internal Crisis" Will Threaten To Destroy Florrick-Agos In Season 6

Diane will be worth a lot to Florrick/Agos as she will not only being more clout, new clients and a weighty partner, Dean Levin-Wilkins (Taye Diggs) but a much coveted asset with Kalinda (Archia Panjabi). The creators have suggested that it is likely that she will make good on that move and Kalinda will go with her, despite her reigning tensions with Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry).

As for Alicia running for State's Attorney, she is seen telling Eli that she would never run for the position. But there is a pause for consideration as he responds by telling her that she could actually win.

Here's the official synopsis for season 6:

"Picking up exactly where season five ended, Alicia is adamant in her refusal to run for State's Attorney. Between an internal crisis for Cary at Florrick/Agos and Diane possibly joining her firm, Alicia has way too much to juggle without the additional stress of politics."

The finale for season 2, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.

Season 6 of The Good Wife will premiere on CBS on September 21.
