As the fate of Transformers 5 is fraught with uncertainty, from the director and the cast unlikely to return for the sequel to Age of Extinction, it seems like the next movie will feature an all new star cast.

Megan Fox To Choose Between TMNT And Transformers 5

While Michael Bay has made it pretty clear that he will not be returning for the fifth instalment of the franchise, the cast might alss follow suit. Initially Age of Extinction was meant to helm the next phase of the franchise, which was reportedly going to be a trilogy and it was assumed that Bay and Mark Wahlberg -- believed to be the new face of the series -- were the new team. Bay's exit might spur the actors -- Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor -- to drop out as well. Recent reports suggest that the actor's involvement in the sequel to Age of Extinction is not certain.

In fact in April, Wahlberg spoke to the LA Times about the fact that Transformers 4 was not a sequel and that he has never done a sequel in his career.

Michael Bay Passing The Baton To New Director For Transformers 5

"Some people think of this as a sequel," he said. "We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel."

While there are many ways to interpret what the actor meant by that, could it also mean that he is averse to doing sequels? If that is fact would it affect his decision to take on the trilogy that is to begin with Transformers 4.

Then some other reports emerged suggesting the return of the franchise's former stars, Megan Fox and Shia LeBeouf. But in recent interviews while both didn't outright decline the possibility of an involvement, stating that they would be enthused to return -- but more as making a brief appearance, cameo -- but it seemed highly unlikely.

All of this could mean that the producers of the film have their work cut out for them, between looking for a new director and new faces for the popular franchise.
