Some big changes are about to take place on Downton Abbey as the era changes with the characters.

Big Movie Star To Appear In Upcoming 'Downton Abbey' Christmas Special

On Sunday, ITV posted some details from a few actors who dished on what's to come. The series will take place in 1924 where a new Labor Government will threaten to bring in huge taxes on estates, including where the characters are.

This is likely going to cause some major issues on how to adjust to a new lifestyle. According to Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, this change "doesn't sit very well with a lot of people upstairs."

Series writer Julian Fellowes mentioned that the people who are in the downward area will also have a lot to work with as they struggle "to adjust to the changing nature of modern Britain."

In a recent story from Daily Mail, Robert James-Collier, who plays Thomas, talked about how his character will have struggles in coming to terms with his sexuality.

"It's quite a harrowing storyline and I hope it is," the actor said. "Because if it isn't, I haven't done it justice."

He then added a little more detail on how this situation is affecting him since there have been some restless nights.

"There are mornings of those scenes when you haven't been able to sleep at night because you are so worried about how it will go," James-Collier said. "Thomas comes right up to the abyss."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States in January 2015 on PBS.
