It was recently announced that movie star George Clooney will be making a guest appearance on Downton Abbey, and now it looks like he'll make an attempt to get romantic with someone.

Sandra Bullock Rumored To Join 'Downton Abbey?'

Actress Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith on the series, was on the breakfast show This Morning where she delivered a small tease on the Christmas special when Clooney will guest star. Published on The Independent on Sunday, the actor's character will apparently try to share a smooch with the Dowager played by Maggie Smith.

"There's a very brilliant moment with Maggie and George- I don't know if I want to give away any more than that really- but George wants a kiss and Maggie ends up on the floor, it's wonderful," Carmichael said.

This sparks up some questions on why the Dowager winds up on the floor- it could be because Clooney missed her with his lips, or perhaps, she was really not interested. There is also a possibility that this kiss will be a playful moment instead of romantic.

As for the romance with other characters, odds are likely that Lady Rose will be on a better path, according to actress Lily James. She told Irish Examiner that her character has had some issues in the past, but hopefully it won't stay that way.

"I think, after all the drama of last year- falling in love about five times, having her heart broken and then realizing, actually, she's fine- I think she's ready to take life a bit more slowly," James said.

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States in January 2015 on PBS.
