While rumors around the plot of the next Captain America have mainly been circling the Civil War comics, it seems like another big crossover could happening with probably the most recognizable Marvel superhero of all-time.

Could There Be Some Major Tension Between Captain America & Iron Man After 'Avengers 2?'

MoviePilot reported on Friday what the plot of the next Captain America movie would be and found one key quote from directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

"That's such a hard question because we've kind of already done that," Joe Russo said. "Do they have to be under contract with Marvel? Maybe they are at another studio."

Is The New Hero Team Going To Influence The 'Captain America 3' Title & Plot?

The site speculated that these comments could be directed towards a possible team-up of Captain America with none other than Spider-Man in the next movie. But is that even possible? Most likely not, but that doesn't stop the directors from teasing a plot line that would mean that cameo would be happening.

"Listen, when I started collecting, The Secret Wars was one of the first books I ever bought, so that's always been an obsession of mine to see something of that scale done - a crossover," Joe said.

"I don't know if that would ever be possible, with all the different situations at the studios. But I would love to see a lot of characters on screen together."

Clearly the directors are looking for more characters to join the Marvel universe and having Spider-Man somehow return would mean a big shift in the paradigm of superhero movies as the web slinger has becoming a massive commodity over at Sony.

In the comics, it also has a lot of Hawkeye, which star Jeremy Renner has already teased. The actor wants in on the next Captain America movie and by doing The Secret Wars, it would allow the character to be easily integrated in.

Captain America 3 is set to open on May 6, 2016.
