Probst spoke with Entertainment Weekly during filming of Survivor: San Juan del Sur this summer where he revealed who he thought would be the favorites to potentially win the season.

The host has three favorite pairs going into this season, which features nine pairs of loved ones competing with and against each other.

"Out of the gate going in, I like Val and Jeremy [Collins] a lot," Probst said. He added that Val, a police officer, is not going to reveal her occupation, out of fear that she could be targeted right away, especially after Tony Vlachos, another cop, won Survivor: Cagayan in the spring.

Probst seems to like both Jeremy and Val equally.

"I like 'em because they're both ballsy and neither one seems to be taking more care of the other," he continued, saying that Jeremy is "instantly likable" and that either one could win the game as long as they "got off to good start."

Moving on to other pairs, Probst revealed that he likes father-son team Keith and Wes Nale, who are both firefighters from Louisiana.

"I like seeing and hearing some regionalism. I like the sound of their voice, I like the way they speak," Probst noted, elaborating that he likes seeing different parts of the country represented.

"I wanna see what this father-son team does if they end up lasting long enough to get back together," he said.

The other pair that Probst likes is Josh Canfield and Reed Kelly, boyfriends from New York City.

"Love them," Probst said, explaining their devotion to each other through the church. "I like that commitment. I like the fact that they are together, 'we're waiting, we're still in church, we're gay, we're everything some people don't wanna hear about and we're not going anywhere.'"

To see if any of Probst's favorite pairs emerge as potential frontrunners to win, tune in to the premiere of Survivor: San Juan del Sur Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
