In a recent interview, JK Simmons, who stars in Terminator: Genisys, stated that the film would be a "love story." A new report infers that this could mean that Kyle Reese might not be killed off in the movie as was the case in The Terminator.

What We Know So Far About Terminator: Genisys

The reasoning does make sense, as Genisys will kickstart a new trilogy and Reese might be terminated in the sequel, to allow the love story to be the prime focus in the first movie.

Speaking to ComingSoon.net, the actor discussed the fifth instalment in the iconic sci-fi franchise, stating that it would be "gigantic movie" but won't be "formulaic."

"It's a gigantic movie and that was such a surprise when they sent that to me and asked me to do it. I thought 'Well, obviously it's a gigantic movie and on that level, it's something most actors would want to be a part of, but is it just going to be the formulaic yadda-yadda-yadda then cut to the stuff blowing up?'" he said. "But I found the script to be really much more intelligent and fun and funny and well-rounded and heart-felt. It's a love story. It's a really interesting script. They got great actors. I wrapped that in August, so that was another movie that ended up being really satisfying on all levels. I have a much smaller part in that but it was really a fun thing to be a part of."

The new film is being directed by Alan Taylor and Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to reprise his role as the iconic mean machine. Jai Courtney will be playing Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke will be portraying the part of John Connor, and Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor. Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) will be playing Detective Cheung, who will "arrest Kyle and Sarah when they arrive in 2017."

While it had been suggested that the film will be a reboot, that is not exactly true. It has been reported that Terminator: Genesis will rewind to the first two films in the series and will move back and forth in the plot with the help of time travel scenes.

Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
