With most of the major players from the last two X-Men movies set to return for the epic scale movie that they are planning, it would seem that this could be the end of seeing some of these characters. But that doesn't seem to be the case according to the writer.

'X-Men' Writer/Producer Says A Crossover With The Fantastic Four Is A Possibility

Writer/producer Simon Kinberg spoke on Monday with Cinema Blend about his previous remarks on the trilogy ending with this film and whether we would see any of the characters from First Class after this movie.

"We would want future movies with the main X-Men characters, but emotionally there are some stories you want to tell in three acts," he said.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Could Be Biggest Movie For Franchise Yet

"Some stories you want to tell in five acts. When we started X-Men: First Class, there was this notion that we were creating arcs emotionally for the characters that we would culminate in a third film."

These arcs he is talking about include wrapping up the themes that First Class started between James McAvoy's Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, Nicholas Hoult's Beast, and Michael Fassbender's Magneto. Of course, First Class began with McAvoy and Lawrence's characters almost being brother and sister with her leaving to follow Magneto and his belief in mutants vs. humans.

"Those emotional stories we'll want to complete, we'll want to culminate in Apocalypse," Kinberg said. "And then create new stories for those characters."

It seems like they will wrap up the themes for these characters, possibly take a break, but return to them. All the actors have developed the characters well with McAvoy and Fassbender doing just as good of work as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan did with the roles.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
