The 2012 Olympic Swimming events have been dominated with coverage on many star players not including Nathan Adrian, Rebecca Soni, and Allison Schmitt. These gold-winning US swimmers have swam impressive runs and have been overshadowed by the likes of Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Missy Franklin. Here are some US Olympic swimmers, you may not know.

Nathan Adrian, 23, swam into victory in the 100-Meter Freestyle race. Adrian clocked in just .01 seconds before his opponent, Australian swimmer, James Magnussen. The whole race was quiet a frenzy with every man virtually lined up along each other. The last swimmer in the race hit the wall only .94 second after the first swimmer, Adrian.

"I knew James was a strong closer," Adrian said during his post-race interview. "I'm typically known to go out fast and come back a little slower, but this time I really conserved some energy that first 50...and then I had a little bit in me for the last 10 meters."

Adrian was so excited to win, his first reactions were almost discernible.

"You can probably tell on my face, 'Oh, sweet, I won the heat,' and then it took a minute, 'Oh wait, it's the Olympics!'" he said.

As Adrian was giving his interview, another American swimmer took the spotlight in her record-breaking race.

"Oh, Reb has just broken a world record. Now I'm overshadowed by Reb setting a world record," Adrian said as he saw the news on the screen.

Rebecca Soni, 25, broke a record with her 2:20.00 swim in the 200-Meter Breaststroke. The swimmer came in 2.4 seconds before the second place winner. Soni was confident of her ability to make it to the finish line first.

"If I feel good, I don't want to hold back. I shouldn't. I just went for the last 50 and I started to hear the crowd halfway through and just kept going with it," the US Swimmer stated.

In the team relay, Allison Schmitt took gold for the US in the 4x200-Meter relay. The 22 year-old swimmer Aussie swimmer, Alicia Coutts during the last 100 meters of the Olympics event.

"I knew [Schmitt] was going to pull off something amazing, and the rest of us had to be at least even with everyone else," said second-leg swimmer Dana Vollmer.

Although Australia had a .54 second lead in the relay, Bronte Barratt admits Schmitt is just too fast.

"We were trying to get as big a lead as possible with Schmitty diving in the water," the Australian swimmer said. "She's got 2 seconds up on our fastest swimmer."
