A still featuring Elise (Lin Shaye) from Insidious was recently posted on the indie-horror movie franchise's Twitter account, teasing her exploration of "the further" in the third chapter.

"No one knows what's in The Further more than Elise. #Insidious," reads the caption.

Elise is the only character who has been carried forward into Insidious 3, from the previous two movies. Insidious 2 ended with Elise visiting a new home to solve a supernatural case, and seeing something terrifying. The cliffhanger was defined by her contorted, shocked expression.

Insidious 3 Will 'Wipe The Slate Clean' And 'Start Over'?  

While Stefanie Scott and Dermot Mulroney are the new leads for this movie, Shaye's inclusion had been announced earlier on.

Earlier this year, Shaye spoke with The Signal about Elise returning for Insidious 3 and working with Leigh Whannell, who will be directing the film.

When asked what fans can expect about the future of Elise, the actress was careful not give anything away. 

"I'm not telling you," she said. "But it's a wonderful story and Elise is very prominent in the story."

She also spoke about Whannell, who wrote the first two movies and will now be taking on directing duties with this one. Shayne was also asked if Whanell had given her any sort of direction while filming the first two movies, which were directed by James Wan.

"No. He was, as writer, very present in the first two. When there was discussion of changing lines and stuff or standing on something, he was very involved with that," she said. "I know he's really excited about directing it. I'm very excited to have him direct it. No one knows the franchise, the story and the feel of the film more than Leigh and James [Wan]. They still are the creators basically so I think it's very exciting to have Leigh step into this next step of his career and create something special. I'm looking forward to creating something special with him."

Insidious 3 will hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
