Netflix is bringing the massively successful sitcom Friends to its streaming service.

In what is likely to be the biggest "get" for Netflix in quite some time, the streaming site has acquired the rights to stream Friends, the popular sitcom that ran from 1994-2004 on NBC.

Friends will begin streaming for users on Jan. 1, 2015.

Netflix announced the news through Twitter, with a new video featuring Gunther (James Michael Tyler), the barista who became one of the show's standout supporting characters. In the video, Gunther is cleaning off the coffee bar as iconography from the show is displayed.

Then, the famous Friends theme song begins to kick in as The Rembrandts are shown singing an acoustic version of the song. While Gunther is seemingly suspicious at first, he soon begins to dance along to the catchy song.

The streaming service announced the news Wednesday.

All 236 episodes of the hit sitcom will begin streaming on New Year's Eve, chronicling the lives and loves of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Ross (David Schwimmer), Monica (Courteney Cox), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow).

The series remains one of the most popular in television history, with reruns still doing well on cable. Aniston has turned into a successful movie star while Cox, LeBlanc and Kudrow have found much success in other television projects.
