Colin Farrell Confirms 'True Detective' Role

Casting has gotten off to a late start this fall. HBO didn't confirm the involvement of leads Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell until September, weeks after casting began. Some of the major roles, including that of a potential female detective, have not been filled.

Still No Lead Actress For Season 2 Of 'True Detective'

According to Mashable, production was supposed to begin in the fall, but with November right around the corner and an incomplete cast the drama might not be ready as soon as producers had hoped.

Season 1 took nine months to complete. Production began in Louisiana April 9, 2013 and the premiere aired on HBO Jan. 12, 2014. The use of multiple directors this year, instead of just one, might also make for slower shooting.

Between filming and post-production, Season 2 will be cutting it close. It would have to begin by November and reduce the nine-month timeline to eight months in order to make a July premiere. Otherwise, the drama might not hit television until August or even September.

Last month ABC News confirmed that Season 2 will be filmed in California, where the story will also take place. It consist of eight episodes and focus heavily on the concept of government corruption.

At this time, True Detective is schedule to return to HBO for a second season mid-2015.
