After the detective's mission to save his little brother went south, the New Jersey-native must find a way to inform his family of Matt's demise.

"I'm right now writing the episode where Danny has to face the consequences of those actions," Lenkov told TV Line. "Of course, there will be a build up to that story... Danny will have to break the news to his family, then deal with the emotional trauma."

Danny will start dealing with the emotional fallout in episode 6, but the matter will rear its head once more latter in season 6.

"There is a beautiful scene in Episode 506 where Danny confides in McGarrett, blaming himself for his brother's murder," Lenkov explained. "And later in the season, an episode devoted entirely to the aftermath of the incident in Colombia."

Showrunner Peter Lenkov previously teased that viewers will eventually get to see Danny return home, and the unfortunate demise of Matthew Williams may provide the chance.
