It may seem crazy, but is The Rock headed for a string of villain roles after he decided to take on Black Adam in Shazam? It appears a few other franchises may want the actor to come in and face their heroes.

Casting Begins For 'X-Men: Apocalypse,' Who Is Getting Re-Cast?

ComicBookMovie uncovered some fan art on Monday that had Dwayne Johnson as the villain Apocalypse in the next X-Men movie. As of now, Tom Hardy is the main actor who is up for the role.

While this doesn't discredit Johnson from possibly showing up in the movie as Apocalypse, another superhero movie that the actor is a part of could create some complications. After pushing hard to get it made, DC announced that they would be making Shazam with Johnson linked to play Black Adam, the film's villain.

Is This 'Dark Knight Rises' Villain Facing The X-Men Next?

But when they announced the titles last week, DC left out Johnson's name on the press release, which begs the question, is he still all the way in for the role? He still could be, but the fact that the movie isn't opening until 2019 gives the actor a lot of room to take on some other roles.

X-Men: Apocalypse is coming out in 2016, which is three years sooner than Shazam, and wouldn't interfere in any way with the DC movie. It also would allow Johnson to get into the villain mindset beforehand and possibly set him up as a long-term adversary for the X-Men as they begin to create a universe on their own.

It also would put an actor who is brooding and terrifying in the role so that he can strike fear in the massive amount of mutants that will be showing up in the movie.

The film is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
