Dancing With the Stars frontrunner Alfonso Ribeiro injured his groin while both rehearsing and performing on the show, but will this affect his longterm performance this season?

Despite re-injuring his groin during Monday night's episode of Dancing With the Stars, Ribeiro still managed to get the best score of the night from the judges, with a 39 out of 40. The actor, who currently has the highest average score in the whole competition, spoke with People after Monday night's show about the injury.

"We're dealing with the injury, we're going to do the best we can," Ribeiro said. "It did hurt a lot tonight, and hurt it again during the routine, which made it even worse."

He added that he knew he had injured himself again when performing a "shoot through," in which "I opened my hip up too much."

In the wake of his injury, Ribeiro is doing his best to heal up and staying positive in the process.

"The good news is, now the week's over. We'll do some healing up, and get ready for the next show," he said, with confidence.

It remains to be seen if Ribeiro's injury will greatly affect his and partner Witney Carson's next dance. He will also be participating in the "Team" dance, which means he is being asked to perform twice in the same night. Fans will see if he can maintain his frontrunner status.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
