Oscar Pistorius officially spent his first night in a South Africa jail for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, and while most people are glad that he's been convicted, Olympian Lolo Jones actually feels sorry for him.

In a new interview with TMZ, the track and field star revealed that she was connected to the South African sprint runner on a different level- and one that did not include sports. "It's hard for me because I actually have a dad who was in prison for murder, he served a life sentence and got out early," Jones told the cameras while walking through LAX.

She continued, "I am one of the most non-judgmental people on people who are like struggling... There's two sides to the story and it's really tough because I know on one end you have the family who is suffering and then you have Oscar as well. It's in God's hands."

Were the Pistorius Tears in Court, All an Act?

Unlike her father, Oscar Pistorius was only sentenced to a five-year sentence, and may still be able to get out early for good behavior. Though the Pistorius family was happy with the sentence, many gender violence supporters lashed out, insisting that the sentence was too easy.

According to The Star, the prosecutors may be looking to move forward with an appeal that could increase Pistorius' sentence to 15 years, at minimum, if he is found guilty on a higher murder charge. For now, the 27-year-old Paralympian is dealing with his current sentence, and sources inside the South African prison said that he cried his entire first night.

"You could hear him. Shortly after the door closed you could hear the tears. He was torn up. Broken. The crying went on and on," The Times Live of South Africa reports from an anonymous source, "It was really bad."
