The Originals introduced some new characters this month on The CW, but there are still more faces to come as season two continues this fall.

Marcel Up Against Resurrected Mikaelsons on 'The Originals'

On Friday, TV Line reported that actress Debra Mooney will be joining the Vampire Diaries spin-off as a "tough, no nonsense" werewolf by the name of Mary. Loyal to her pack, she won't be afraid to step up to defend those closest to her.

Fans of the WB-turned-CW might recognize Mooney from the popular drama Everwood, where she played matriarch Edna Harper from 2002 to 2006. Since then, she has landed roles on Arrested Development, Boston Legal, The Practice, and most recently ABC's Scandal, where she portrayed Supreme Court Justice Verna Thornton.

Mooney, who will appear in episode eleven this season, isn't the only one making her debut on The Originals. In episode five Nina Dobrev, known for portraying Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries, will appear in flashbacks as Tatia, the doomed woman who both Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan loved back when they were mortals.

Also new to the cast this season is Sonja Sohn, who appeared last Monday. The actress began the episode as Lenore, a witch and ally to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) who helped Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) "brand" the spirit of Klaus' mother Esther shortly before being possessed by Esther herself.

With family drama like this, tension is sure to rise fast this fall with each new episode.

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
