The patients on FOX's Red Band Society may have been the focus of some love triangles and romance issues, but the nursing staff and doctors could soon have their own turn to get embroiled in big love stories.

Is 'Red Band Society' Certain To Be Cancelled?

According to TV Line, Adrian Lester of Hustle and Girlfriends has been cast in a recurring role of Dr. Lawrence Naday, who is described as "a disheveled, world-renowned international neurologist with unconventional methods, who will wind up making a big impression on the entire hospital staff, but most notably on Nurse Jackson."

It's unclear if he will become romantically involved with Nurse Jackson (Octavia Spencer), or if he will be a blast from her past, which is likely considering a big reveal Spencer recently teased about her character in the show's upcoming seventh episode.

When asked about a cryptic comment made by Nurse Kenji (Wilson Cruz) in the third episode that Jackson had given up "a life most people only dream of" in favor of working at Ocean Park Hospital, Spencer said that fans will learn things they didn't expect about her character.

"Nurse Jackson is everything you think she is, and then a lot of things you don't," she said. "We dropped some breadcrumbs in the pilot and the last couple episodes. And now, we're actually filming a big Nurse Jackson reveal [in] Episode 7."

Lester isn't the only guest star slated to be joining the freshman series, as Mandy Moore and Bella Thorne are also slated to be appearing on the show as well. Moore will be Dr. McAndrew's (Dave Annabelle) ex, while Thorne will be a pop star who checks into the hospital for "exhaustion."

Red Band Society airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on FOX.
