He is set to play a mutant in a future X-Men movie, but could our first look at Channing Tatum as Gambit come during the series' next film?

While Tatum has said that he doesn't want to include his character in the line-up for X-Men: Apocalypse, but instead introduce him in his own standalone movie, that doesn't mean audiences couldn't see the character first in a post-credit scene after the movie.

With Wolverine 3 and Gambit following Apocalypse, Fox could look to get the marketing party started on those films and hint at them with a tease. While Wolverine doesn't need that much help selling his brand, Gambit could be in need of some promotion to get people on board with Tatum's new mutant.

Is This 'X-Men' Character The Next One To Get His Own Standalone Series?

It also would allow Fox the opportunity to begin tying together their world of mutants as they start to make their own version of a cinematic universe. This is going to begin with Deadpool and incorporate Wolverine but will probably really take off with Tatum's Gambit who could be a tie-in with both characters.

There is still time for Tatum to be included into the Apocalypse cast, but with the script being worked on now, it doesn't say whether the character will even be around during that time period and could be a mutant in present day much like how Wolverine's story is going in his standalone franchise.

It remains to be seen if Fox will continue to expand their universe and give other characters a solo film, but there is always room for a standalone feature for Magneto or Professor X.
