With Nero (Jimmy Smits) being one of the only characters on FX's Sons of Anarchy that still have hope of a happy ending, the actor previewed his feelings about the finale next week.

Nero is feeling the weight of sending Unser (Dayton Callie) to Oregon and that guilt and more will manifest in the final episode of Sons of Anarchy.

"You'll see more than guilt," Smits told reporters this week, according to Entertainment Weekly.

He further explained that in the scenes left unwritten, between the penultimate episode and the series finale, Nero is grappling with his emotions.

"I think there's pain, there's guilt, there's remorse. 'Did you do the right thing?'" Smits observed. "I'm sure the scenes afterward that aren't written, or maybe you won't get to see in between the episodes, are full of maybe anger and trying to grapple with what's the next move. You gotta remember with all of these people, there's this bubbling kind of how do they deal with the feeling of betrayal, and how [do] they try to go about exacting, one might term it, vengeance or making things right for them or their point of view."

While the actor would not spill anything specific about the series finale, he did tease that there are surprises ahead, particularly for Nero.

"It has all of those elements that have been the signature of the show throughout the seven seasons," he teased. "I was a little surprised, specifically, about the way Nero ends up. But I totally get it. I totally get it."

Many believe that Nero will end up at his Norco farm with Jax's (Charlie Hunnam) boys, but this may be a little too obvious considering Smits' comment about being surprised.

Sons of Anarchy airs its series finale Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
