'Eaten Alive' Discovery Anaconda: Network Defends Paul Rosolie After Viewers Express Disappointment, Safety Was 'Always Our Number-One Priority' [VIDEO]
It turns out that the Discovery TV special on a man getting swallowed by an anaconda didn't do as well as viewers expected it would.

Paul Rosolie was supposed to be gobbled up by a giant snake, but it didn't exactly happen that way. The 20-foot anaconda wrapped itself around Rosolie in his crush-proof suit where his team rescued him before his arm got snapped.
On Monday, Entertainment Weekly posted an interview with the network who defended the TV special after a number of viewers expressed their disappointment via Twitter.
"Paul created this challenge to get maximum attention for one of the most beautiful and threatened parts of the world, the Amazon Rainforest and its wildlife," the statement from Discovery says. "He went to great lengths to send this message and it was his absolute intention to be eaten alive."
The network continued its statement by saying it was the man's safety that needed to have focus.
"Ultimately, after the snake constricted Paul for over an hour and went for his head, the experiment had to be called when it became clear that Paul would be very seriously injured if he continued on. The safety of Paul, as well as the anaconda, was always our number-one priority."
In another EW article, some tweets were written that showed viewers' eyerolls.
