Jax (Charlie Hunnam) went off on his final ride at the end of the series finale of Sons of Anarchy, scored to an original song written by series creator Kurt Sutter. The song, titled Come Join the Murder, was arguably perfectly fitting in the show's tone, offering a bittersweet note to end the motorcycle drama.

The song was performed by the Forest Rangers as always, with vocals by Jack Smith, also known as the White Buffalo.

"As a fan of the show, it was an honor collaborating with Kurt and [music supervisor] Bob [Thiele] on this," Smith told Rolling Stone. "The song is conflicted, disturbing, and beautiful, much like the show itself. I hope the fans enjoy it."

The fans are most definitely enjoying it as it has already shot up the iTunes Singles chart, where it now rests in the Top 25.

Thiele told Rolling Stone that he wanted the song to be set in a major key for a reason.

"We know what's gonna happen and sad as it is, there is a triumphant surrender that Jax embraces in his final moments," he explained. Rather than stay in the minor key of the verse, I chose to frame the chorus in a major key which underscores Jax's decision to chose his own final destiny. The moment is no longer weighed in sorrow."

He added that the song had a Peter, Paul & Mary influence, hence the folk-sounding melody.

Fans can buy Come Join the Murder on iTunes now.
