Soap opera star Kristoff St. John shared a very sorrowful note for his son via Facebook following his funeral.

“On December 5th, 2014, the 25th birthday of my son Julian's life, I laid to rest his physical remains as the day turned to dusk. Through the rain soaked clouds the sun suddenly soared through, shining freeing rays of orange, reddish sunlight…bathing and purifying all who had gathered to witness his ascent to heaven. I saw his spirit rising skyward, finding a million stars, creating an unprecedented supernova,” the actor wrote on Tuesday along with three photos of his son.

He added, “My son, my brother, my best friend. A liquid pool reflection of my soul, and his. The greatest young man I have had the honor to know, and father. I love you…till the end of time.”

St. John, 48, also shared a YouTube link to the 1976 song "Vincent" by Don McLean to express his emotions in more detail. The melancholic song includes the lyrics, “Now I understand what you tried to say to me. And how you suffered for your sanity and how you tried to set them free. They would not listen; they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now."

The actor, who has played Neil Winters on the CBS’s The Young and the Restless since 1991, previously revealed that his son suffered from schizophrenia for years.

Last week, the actor's ex-wife also announced that their artistic son committed suicide after a long battle with the mental illness.

"He fought long and hard against an illness for which there is no cure. Unfortunately the pain became too great for him and I dare not say he lost the battle--he simply chose to set himself free," she wrote on Facebook.

On Julian's website, TheArtofJulian.com, he described himself as "a complex, but extraordinary young man" who uses his art to take people "through his journey of psychosis."

"It's a story of despair and triumph, where reality and delusion become intertwined," reads the website which showcases his artwork.
