The Originals returns on The CW in January with plenty of good old fashioned blood sucking, soul scorching and disemboweling family drama.

Klaus & Elijah Could Clash On How To Save Rebekah On 'The Originals'

"The only thing that can exist between your two species is death," warned Finn (Yusuf Gatewood) of the vampires and wolves during The CW's latest preview of the show's epic January return (featured below).

The clip only runs about 30 seconds, but it sure does pack a punch with fights, betrayal, devastation and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) threatening to "deposit" someone's head "on the end of a spike."

Why Jackson Might Not Want To Marry Hayley On 'The Originals'

While they may have taken down their mother during the midseason finale, the fight against the witches is far from over. A new threat has emerged that requires attention, and there is still the now-mortal Rebekah to find and save.

Then, just when it seems like things cannot get any worse, there is Mikael (Sebastian Roche).

"Together we can finally destroy them," declared the infamous Mikaelson father to a secret new ally.

It looks like fans will finally get to see a showdown between Klaus and Jackson (Nathan Parsons) as the ultimate hybrid and the alpha face off, plus Josh's (Steven Kruger) romance seems to be in for some rough road ahead as his new beau gets into some wolf trouble.

Now that Rebekah is trapped in the mortal body of a witch, it's uncertain who will be looking after baby Hope. With no one to take the child out of New Orleans, Klaus and Hayley (Phoebe) might have to look after their daughter inside the city and they will do anything, whatever the cost, to protect her.

The Originals returns on The CW to continue with its second season Monday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
