Castle star Nathan Fillion might be famous for headlining multiple TV shows but he is happy that he isn't too famous.

Fillion, who portrays Richard Castle on the ABC series, discussed his level of fame in a new report by The Courier Mail.

"I was talking to a friend the other day who described my level of success as 'perfect famous'," Fillion revealed. "I don't have to wait in long lines at the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), I can have dinner with friends in a restaurant, and at the same time the paparazzi aren't following me. I think I can credit the long hours we're on set for that."

While the paparazzi often leech on stars who go bad, Fillion said that he doesn't "have any time to get in trouble."

Fillion has played Castle for seven seasons now. He was previously known for his leading role as Mal Reynolds in Fox's cult classic Firefly. The actor suggested that he isn't so famous that people would even know of what that was.

"There are also plenty of people watching Castle who have never heard of (past shows such as) Firefly. It is wonderful."

Fillion thinks that it is due to the number of hours required for Castle that he is not as well known as a public figure.

"In this environment we're removed (from the hype)," Fillion observed. "We're kind of locked in here. It seems a little insular. It seems a little confined at times. Thankfully we get to go on location occasionally.

"It's not a glamorous life. It is a bit of a sacrifice."

Fans clearly love Fillion due to the continued popularity of the show, which is largely carried by him and his costar Stana Katic, who plays Beckett.

Castle returns for the second half of season 7 on Monday, Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
