With the whole cast of younger actors coming back for another go-round with the next X-Men movie, it was also perceived that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would be along for another ride. But the actor now has made comments that seem like his involvement in the movie will be minimal.

A 'Vampire Diaries' Star Is Leading Candidate For The Role Of Storm In 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast (via MTV) on Monday, Jackman talked about his role in Apocalypse and his future with the franchise.

"I have been speaking to the guys, and I'm not at liberty to tell exactly what's going on," he said.

'Deadpool' Could Include A Number Of Original 'X-Men' Characters To Bridge The Franchises

"Which is largely framing my answer here....But there's still a lot unknown about that, actually. There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There's some really cool things going on."

He also provided an update on the third Wolverine movie saying that he and David James Kelly are "working on... really hard." He added that "I'm very, very excited about that, actually," about the possibility of James Mangold returning to direct the movie.

As for the comments on Apocalypse, those seem to be the opposite of what Jackman has said before, which seemed like he would be one of the main characters again. But now it seems like he could be in the movie, but in a small capacity. We left his character in an interesting predicament and who knows if that will lead into the next X-Men movie or Wolverine one.

It could always change, but it seems like Jackman may not be in the movie as much as we initially thought and it will indeed be focusing more on these other characters.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes out on May 27, 2016.
