Though she may have proven herself to be a fit mother for her daughter in several ways, her inability to stay away from Nathan (Ryan Paevy) appears to have cost Maxie (Kirsten Storms) her chance at custody on General Hospital.

Maxie Learns The Outcome Of Her Custody Hearing

She learned at her hearing that Judge Walters apparently kept tabs on both her and Nathan, and learned they didn't do as he requested and stay apart-and as a result, he denied Maxie the right to custody of her daughter and said they could revisit the subject again in six months.

Now, Maxie will seek out the man she loves for comfort in the wake of her yet again being denied the right to be a mom.

Nathan Struggles To Live Following Shoot-Out

"I lost the right to see my daughter again," she says to Nathan in a preview clip for the Wednesday, Dec. 17 episode.

Maxie actually only sought out time with Nathan after she learned he had been shot during the attempt to transport Faison (Anders Hove) to Pentonville. She went to visit him in the hospital to make sure he was okay-but her reasons for being with him weren't considered worthy of violating the judge's orders.

That very shooting has resulted in another police investigation, to see who the gunman who managed to help Faison escape was-especially since he used Sam (Kelly Monaco) as a hostage in the process. Since a phrase he uttered matched one the gunman used while holding her, Sam became convinced that "Jake" (Billy Miller) was the one responsible for her experience-and after getting a close-up on the gunman's eyes in the video, she will be sure of it, leading her to confront him about his actions against her.

'I know it was you," she says in the clip.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
