Chrisley made it clear that the struggles he and his family face are not any different than the average family.

"The show is about my wife and myself raising five children we have two grandchildren, "he told The Broadcast TV earlier this week.

"Just kind of going through the same things that everyone else in this country go through but we wanna do it with a sense of humor. I always want to be able to have some way of laughing about the situation. When I discipline my children I always want them to know that it's coming from a place of love."

As far as how he got on the show, he said a journalist he was working with on his upcoming store told him he and his family should be on reality TV. They went through the process of doing a reel and sent it out to 10 networks. Chrisley revealed all 10 wanted to sign them on for a new series.

"I never thought I was funny. I never had any aspirations to have a reality show," he confessed.

The show follows the Chrisley clan in their every day life as Todd transitions from real estate to opening his own store. The second season wrapped Tuesday. It has already been picked up for season number three.
