Netflix's Orange Is the New Black is hitting its stride with critical success and popularity, so will it carry this success through the upcoming award season?

'Orange Is the New Black' Star Uzo Aduba Says Season 3 Is 'Clear As Day,' But What Does She Mean?

Orange Is the New Black has found great success both critically and commercially. The Netflix prison comedy-drama is now nominated for three Golden Globe awards and two SAG Awards. With buzz continuing to be hot for the show, will they pull off wins?

The show should be considered the frontrunner to win Best Comedy Series at the Golden Globes. Their competition consists of HBO's Girls and Silicon Valley, The CW's Jane the Virgin and Amazon Instant Video's Transparent. Girls has already been awarded in this category and Silicon Valley and Jane the Virgin may be considered too small to win, compared to OITNB. Its closest competition may be Transparent, the dramedy centered on an aging father (Jeffrey Tambor) who comes out as transgender.

Why Are Uzo Aduba & Taylor Schilling Only People Nominated for 'OITNB' At Recent Awards?

Taylor Schilling (who plays Piper Chapman) is nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the Globes as well. She could potentially take home the trophy as the Globes love hot, rising stars, but she could have competition from another rising star Gina Rodriguez, from Jane the Virgin, or comedy powerhouse Julia Louis-Dreyfus from HBO's Veep. Schilling could definitely take home the win if Globe voters really love the show.

Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren) has a great chance of winning the Supporting Actress in a TV Series award. She is nominated against Kathy Bates from FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show, Joanne Froggatt from PBS's Downton Abbey, Allison Janney from CBS' Mom and Michelle Monaghan from HBO's True Detective. While all of these actresses are excellent, Aduba is another rising star who plays a very memorable part. She could be considered the frontrunner at this point.

Meanwhile, at the SAG Awards, Orange Is the New Black is nominated for Best Comedy Ensemble alongside CBS's The Big Bang Theory, Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, ABC's Modern Family and HBO's Veep.

Orange Is the New Black has a very beloved ensemble with many of the show's actresses being praised for their work. It's biggest competition might be awards juggernaut Modern Family, but voter fatigue might set in for the ABC show, which is in its sixth season.

Aduba is nominated for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series, even getting in over the show's lead actress, Schilling. She is going against Louis-Dreyfus again, who may be too popular to overcome, but the industry loves Aduba, so she could definitely upset.

Either way, Orange Is the New Black will be represented a lot in the January award ceremonies, which will only help with buzz going into season 3 in summer 2015.
