Jim Carrey may have acted in one of the more lightweight Batman movies, but he is interested in playing a role in one of the newer, darker entries.

Carrey played The Riddler in 1995's Batman Forever, a movie with plenty of campy elements, particularly the actor's hammy performance. But now with the current trend of darker, grittier Batman movies, the comedian wants to be involved.

"I'd love to work in the new graphic-novel versions of the movie," Carrey said in a new interview with MTV. "I don't know about reprising the role. I don't think Chris Nolan would go for that, but I'd love to work with him."

'Batman v Superman' Details on Superman Revealed, With Possible Fan Service For Character

Nolan directed 2005's Batman Begins, 2008's The Dark Knight and 2012's The Dark Knight Rises, but he is not directing the upcoming blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He is merely serving as an executive producer to the Zack Snyder directed film.

Assuming Snyder continues to use Nolan's dark style, like he did for 2013's Man of Steel, it might be difficult for a character like The Riddler to fit into that world.

As it stands now, Batman v Superman is slated to feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, and many more stars.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
