A new report reveals that the Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) duel in the recent mid-season finale of Arrow, was actually inspired by an epic Batman fight sequence.

International Business Times UK reported that the sword fight referenced a similar battle between Batman and Ra's Al Ghul. Oliver lost his life to the duel leaving fans shocked, and heightening the anticipation for the return of the rest of season 3 to confirm that Oliver is actually dead cold.

Following his character's death, Amell took to Facebook to allay fans' concerns about the future of the show and what they can expect from the rest of season 3.

His post was reassuring for fans who seemed to be very dismayed by Oliver's sudden death, and Amell also promised them that the series would only impress them.

Here's his post:

"Facebook. Thank you so much for the enthusiasm spilling out of tonight's fall finale. I've never had anywhere near this amount of feedback.

"Despite the title, our show is bigger than any one character. We're going to prove that to you. Sit tight... January will be here in no time."

The promo for the upcoming episode, set to air after a short hiatus in January, was also recently revealed. In the promo somebody is heard saying Oliver is dead, as the camera pans atop the mountain top, where the duel between Ghul and Oliver took place, showing Oliver's limp body on a rock. That's about all the preview gives away about what fans can expect from the next episode, titled Left Behind, which is to air on January 21.

But while this seems to be the reality of the hour, it does not necessarily mean that Oliver is gone for good. As has been suggested by a Screen Rant report, the character could very well be resuscitated, noting it is a normal occurence in comic books. The piece goes on to specifics which could bring Oliver back to life like the immortalising Lazarus Pit, we were made aware of in the previous episode. The pit is also known to heal deadly wounds, perhaps even bring people back from the dead.
