A Sons of Anarchy movie hoax had many people fooled with claims that Brad Pitt would be playing a significant character.

'Sons of Anarchy' Breaks FX Records For Final Season, 'It's Rare And Remarkable'

Satirical news site Empire News jokingly reported on Tuesday that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter was adapting the motorcycle drama to the big screen. The site claimed that Sutter said in a random magazine called Hollywood Today that he was "going to turn it into a feature film."

The most unbelievable bit in the article was the idea that Pitt would be playing John Teller, father of series protagonist Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam).

'Sons of Anarchy' Guest Star Marilyn Manson Talks 'Spoilers' Being Downside Of Acting In Final Season

"I am most excited about bringing Brad (Pitt) on as John Teller, he is absolutely perfect for the role," the site humorously reported Pitt said. "The movie will take place from the day Jax was born, and leads up to the era just before Sons Of Anarchy began as a series."

After this was published, snopes.com quickly revealed the "news" to be false, and included a couple Twitter users who were duped.

"Holy hell I just got excited they are making a movie of sons of anarchy and brad Pitt is going to be John teller My life just got better," one tweeter said.

Sons of Anarchy just finished with its seventh and final season in early December. The series concluded with record ratings for FX and many of the show's diehard fans thought that it was a fitting and satisfying ending.

There is no word on a potential movie, though a spinoff is reportedly being tossed around as an idea.
