It was reported on Aug. 21 that rapper Kanye West is currently in talks with producers to become an "American Idol" judge.  The top brass over at the Fox singing competition are said to have reached out to the 35-year-old performer about taking over one of the judging positions, according to a source close to TMZ.

However, West is not officially on board with the idea as of yet. The gossip site source stated that "He's on the fence" about the possible opportunity. Another factor that would heavily play into the potential signing is indeed money.

Sources from the site claimed that "Idol" would "at least match newbie Mariah's salary" of $18 million per year. Phone calls to West's representatives regarding the respective speculation have not been answered thus far.

Kim K's main squeeze aside, the lead candidates for the "Idol" spot are said to include Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias.

Recent news had surfaced on Monday that Nicki Minaj was either very close to inking a deal with the show or has so already.  However, no further details on the reported proposal to the 29-year-old have been disclosed at this time.

"Idol" producers are said to be very focused on bringing in top celebrity draws. This is due to the star power that rivals "The Voice" and "The X-Factor" currently have signed on as judges.
