As the mid-season premiere of season 6 of The Good Wife is just around the corner, Enstars rounds up all that is known about the upcoming mid-season premiere of the CBS legal drama.

New 'Disgusting' Character Joining For Rest Of Season 6 Of The Good Wife

First off, the big focus will be Cary's (Matt Czuchry) fate and it looks very very bleak. Cary is feeling quite hopeless, enough to hire a prison consultant to prepare him for incarceration.

Here's the entire synopsis:

"Cary hires a prison consultant to prepare him for incarceration while the team at Florrick/Agos/Lockhart does everything in its power to help him. Also, Alicia practices for the State's Attorney candidates' debate."

Alicia And Finn To Be Romantically Involved In The Good Wife?

The promo for the upcoming episode of The Good Wife shows Cary being possibly put away for four years after having accepted a plea bargain, and it is likely that he will have to serve time, even though his colleagues race against time to find a violation in the State's Attorney's investigation.

The preview of the episode, titled Hail Mary, was released exclusively released via E!Online and show Alicia (Julianna Margulies) making a case for Cary in an interview saying that "we need to remember that even innocent people sometimes plead guilty." It is then revealed that Cary is up for four years in jail, after having accepted a plea bargain on drug charges.

Diane (Christine Baranski) is seen moving forces back in the office for Cary, stating that he will be put behind bars unless they can find a violation in the state's attorney's work, and that they have only five hours and thirty six minutes to raise the red flags. Toward the end of the preview, Alicia (Juliana Margulies) sounds nervous on the phone, as she asks Diane what happened. The question might pertain to Cary's fate, and Alicia looks very dejected.

In another sneak peek Alicia is seen being grilled by Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) in a debate, and she totally slams him. As Peter asks Alicia why she is running for office, she snaps back with an assertive response, stating that she believes there is a failure in leadership, and flouting of ethics -- "prosecutors with serious shortcomings."

She does not only attack the current State's Attorney but also takes a side jab at Peter, suggesting the governance of the state is flawed. Alicia actually talks about how her husband's work as an SA and Governor influences people's perception of her, and she wants to remove herself from that, and promises more accountability and responsibility. She concludes her argument by stating that she is not a politician and is a lawyer, by training and by temperament, and how that plays as a strength as she has the ability to put people's demands before her self interest and also ensure a greater degree of discipline.

The latest episode of the CBS legal drama left Cary's case hanging, as he had to decide if he would testify against Lemond Bishop (Mike Colter) to get a shorter sentence. The shocking cliffhanger, shows Cary deciding to plead guilty in court as most of the evidence and witnesses turn against him. While it seems unlikely that Cary would be put away for a bunch of years to not appear on The Good Wife, it could be made a possibility by giving him a dramatic exit in the upcoming episode, which is set to air on January 4, and then show him deal with prison life in the rest of the episodes that are left in the season.

The next season might use a time jump and show Cary return, but this could jeopardise his career too. Meanwhile, the other sad exit this season will be that of Archie Panjabi, who plays Kalinda Sharma on the series.

Hail Mary will air on January 4 on CBS at 9 pm ET/PT
