Actress Laura Carmichael dished on the opening sequence of the fifth season of Downton Abbey, which airs in the United States on Sunday night.

Thomas Will Have A 'Harrowing Storyline' On 'Downton Abbey'

In an interview with Wall Street Journal posted on Saturday, the actress, who plays Edith, dished on a fire that will take place that is going to involve her. The actress was asked if her character was going to die, but Carmichael didn't take it that far.

"Don't be too concerned," she said. "But it's a dramatic opener."

The actress talked about how she knew that this moment with the fire would probably have something to do with her character ever since it got announced.

"They sent an email about the fire stuff and I was like, 'Oh gosh, I bet that's something to do with Edith,' and yeah, I was involved in it," Carmichael said. "So it's always nerve-wrecking, but you're kind of in [series creator] Julian [Fellowes'] hands, our brilliant writer."

The actress then dished on spoilers and how she always has to be careful when discussing them. There's also the matter of wondering how much people are going to know what happens since the series airs in the United Kingdom before it airs in the United States.

"I do worry about them, I think we all do," Carmichael said about the spoilers. "You want what you've been working on to be enjoyed in the way that you intended in the right order and to have a surprise be a surprise. And then at the same time, it's our job to discuss the show before it airs and I have given some very poor interviews."
