Henry Cavill is apparently one of the newest top candidates for the role of Christian Grey in the movie version of E.L. James' "50 Shades of Grey." After being casted in Superman's "Man of Steel," his acting stock is clearly on the rise.

Due to the large amount of buzz swirling, many fans of "50 Shades" have been feverishly searching throughout the web for the latest information on the 29-year-old actor.

In support of Cavill for the Grey role, many fans are pointing out the similarities of the character's traits to his 2008 Dunhill London advertising campaign. The cologne spot features Cavill boarding a helicopter while dominating London's skies in an expensive tuxedo and cufflinks much like a Christian Grey would.

According to MTV in 2009, "Twilight" author Stephanie Meyers had actually envisioned the English actor to be the perfect Edward Cullen. However, the part ultimately ended up going to Robert Pattinson due to Cavill's older age. Interesting enough, E.L. James' Christian Grey billionaire character allegedly had been inspired by the popular vampire role.

Up until this point, E.L. James and the producers attached to the future film have remained tight lipped on the casting process. Apparently, a writer and director must be chosen first before acting roles can be confirmed.
