Mariah Carey Wants Lenny Kravitz To Join "American Idol" Instead Of Nicki Minaj

Mariah Carey has already expressed her dissatisfaction with the possibility of Nicki Minaj joining her as an "American Idol" judge, and now the R&B diva is reportedly pushing producers to cast her friend Lenny Kravitz.

Carey was infuriated when she heard Minaj was negotiating to be a judge, reports said, because Carey was told she would be the only woman on the panel.

But an insider tells Hollywood Life that Mariah has an idea of who she'd like to see alongside her on the show.

"Mariah would love to have her dear friend Lenny Kravitz sit next to her on the 'American Idol' judge panel," the source said. "She thinks he would be the perfect choice because he is extremely talented and knows music inside and out."

Carey reportedly thinks Minaj isn't established enough to be a credible judge.

"Mariah wants a panel of bright, inspirational and constructive judges. Not some freak show," the source dished. "Mariah thinks Nicki will just be a distraction and it will all be about her and her outrageous behavior. Mariah will not be happy if Nicki joins the panel and she has let the producers know just how she feels."

What Carey wants is likely to be a big concern for producers, considering the whopping $18 million paycheck she will be taking home for one season of "Idol."
