R. Kelly has broken his silence on Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess of R&B and he had lots to say about how he was portrayed in the late singer's biopic.

It's safe to say R. Kelly was arguably the most controversial character in the film considering it portrayed his alleged marriage to Aaliyah when she was just 15-years-old.

But what might be more surprising is that he actually spoke out about the movie after pretty much staying silent on the alleged marriage.

He spoke with Big Tigger of Atlanta's V-103 on Thursday. When asked about what he thought on the controversial movie, he couldn't help but laugh before admitting he opted out of watching it; like many of Aaliyah's family, close friends and fans.

"You know what? Now, you asked me this question, I didn't know you were gonna ask me that. Listen, I didn't watch that. Once they said they were making a movie and somebody was gonna be playing me, can't nobody play me homie. You got to know me to play me. It's impossible. So why should I watch something that's not real? When I'm real."

In the film R. Kelly (played by actor Clé Bennett), worked with Aaliyah in the beginning days of her career. He ended up developing feelings for the then teenager (he was in his late twenties at the time) and shortly after Aaliyah (actress Alexandra Shipp) revealed to her parents they secretly tied the knot. Her parents ordered her to end the union and did not allow her to work with him anymore. She went on to work with mega producers Missy Elliott and Timbaland.
