NBC's Constantine will reignite the debate over it's main characters sexuality should the series be granted a second season.

Title & Plot Revealed For 'Constantine' Episode 11, John Battles An Alternate Dimension

Canonically bisexual, John Constantine's (Matt Ryan) sexuality was not addressed during the first half of season 1, and it looks like it will stay in the background through the end of the 13-episode order. However, the series already has three scripts penned for a potential second season, and executive producer Daniel Cerone recently announced that one of these scripts will deal with John's "sexual openness."

"John's sexual openness was intro'd gradually over time in the comic. We've dropped hints and in one coming script it's clear," Cerone tweeted on Wednesday. "It's in one of the 3 additional scripts NBC ordered after the initial 13, which would put it next season."

Last summer, the creative minds behind Constantine were very vague when questioned about the eponymous hero's sexuality. As producers tip-toed around the question, never giving a definitive answer, they did make a similar statement to the one above, informing fans that the reveal of Constantine's bisexuality came late in the comics.

"In those comic books, John Constantine aged in real time," Cerone told Entertainment Weekly in July. "Within this tome of three decades [of comics] there might have been one or two issues where he's seen getting out of bed with a man. So [maybe] 20 years from now? But there are no immediate plans."
