In a new promotional video, President Barack Obama is seen on the phone, telling someone that he's "counting on" them to "be on board" and "get it right" because there's "a lot at stake."

When Obama hangs up, the video reveals actors John Cho and Kal Penn, the stars of "Harold and Kumar".

The pair, known mostly for the film series about two slackers and their love of marijuana in the cult comedy, are sitting on a couch watching television surrounded by junk food.

"Dude, who was that? Sounded intense," says Cho, who plays Harold in the film franchise.

"The president," says Penn, who plays Kumar.

"Sweet," says Cho, while popping in a potato chip.

The video was made to promote Obama fans to watch coverage of the 2012 Democratic National Convention online. Penn will be hosting the Democratic National Convention for barackobama.com.

Penn took a two year break from acting in films to work on President Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. The New Jersey native later became a member of Obama's National Arts Policy Committee.

In 2009 he became the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. This year, he co-chairs the president's re-election campaign.

Penn briefly left the White House in 2010 to film his Kumar role for the third installment of the series, "A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas."

He reportedly continued his commitments despite his temporary absence by attending several campaign events for different Democrats.

Penn was spotted at the Convention in Charlotte on Monday, Sept. 3, greeting the First Lady on stage when she went to practice for her speech.

Penn addressed the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte on Tuesday, Sept.4.
