Jennifer Lopez might be one of the most successful singers and actresses of our time, but it looks like she's had her fair share of both highs and lows. The Hollywood star recently opened up about a time when she felt her life was "falling apart" before picking herself up again.

In an interview with HuffPost Live (via ABC News) this week, Lopez said that the worst time of her life was when she made the movie Gigli in 2003 with her then-fiance Ben Affleck.

She said, "I think the worst, lowest point was the whole 'Gigli' era. It was very tough."

Lopez said that all the bad press she was getting for the film along with the attention she had for dating Affleck at the time definitely took a toll on her.

She said, "It was a very badly reviewed film. I was in a high-profile relationship at the time that fell apart in a really bad way, and so the kind of mix of those two things - the tabloid press had just come into existence at the time, so I was like a poster child for that moment."

After breaking up with Affleck in 2004, Lopez went on to date and marry Marc Anthony. The couple split in 2011 and she then went on to have a three-year relationship with back-up dancer Casper Smart, before breaking up with him last summer.

The celebrity mother-of-two though insists that her life is definitely back on the right track now.

She said, "I've never felt more control as an artist. I feel like I'm so much better than I was when I started and I'm able to express that as an artist."

Lopez's latest film, The Boy Next Door is out in theaters now.
